THE GET UP KIDS REUNITE FOR SURPRISE HOMETOWN SHOW

SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY EDITION OF SOMETHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT TO BE RELEASED IN 2009

(November 17, 2008) – Fans started lining up early yesterday morning outside of The Record Bar in Kansas City, Missouri for a chance to see a surprise hometown show by The Get Up Kids. The group played their last show together in 2005 and last night they performed their 1999 release, Something To Write Home About in its entirety.

“We all had a really good time playing together this weekend and really, that’s the most important part for me,” said vocalist/guitarist Matt Pryor. “We decided to play the Record Bar show as a test to see if we wanted to play together next year for the anniversary of the record. It was supposed to be a secret … that didn’t work out.”

Next year marks the ten-year anniversary of the release of Something To Write Home About (Vagrant) - The Get Up Kids second studio album that launched them into the national spotlight. Vagrant will be reissuing the disc as part of a special package that will include a DVD, photo book, and more in Spring ’09.

The Get Up Kids are Matthew Pryor –vocals/guitar, Jim Suptic – guitar/vocals, Ryan Pope – drums, Robert Pope – bass, and James Dewees – keyboard.
